Kosovo Deputy PM Accuses Serbia of “Colonizing” North Kosovo

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj accused Serbia of carrying out “the colonization” of north Kosovo with the creation of settlements for the Serbs.

Hoxhaj reacted to the continuation of building houses in the returnee settlement of Sunny Valley in North Kosovo, writing on his Twitter that “colonization projects are dangerous and they aim to change the ethnic structure in the north.”

“Serbia continues with the colonization projects which change the ethnic structure in Kosovo’s north. Those dangerous activities create tension, instability and ethnic conflict. The EU must punish and stop them,” Hoxhaj tweeted.

The works in the Sunny Valley settlement started in mid-2016; according to earlier announcements, it will have around 300 residential units, i.e. more than 100 objects including the post office, school, kindergarten, and church planned to be built. The settlement-building project is worth EUR 14 million.
