President of the Republic Ilir Meta and Prime Minister Edi Rama attended on Wednesday the first meeting of the Diaspora Coordination Council. PM Rama called on the Albanian diaspora’s support to overcome the earthquake’s consequences and focused on the institutionalization of the government-diaspora co-operation as a high-potential partnership for a better future for Albania. The Diaspora Coordination Council elected as its Head the New York City Council Member, Mark Gjonaj. The Council’s meeting was held yesterday on the occasion of the International Migrants Day, which is also declared the Diaspora National Day in Albania.
