PM Thaci Ready to Call Elections if Parties Fail to Reach an Agreement

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci announced on Wednesday that he is ready to call early parliamentary elections immediately if political parties are unable to respond to the newly created political situation, the news agencies reported.

This was announced after Thaci conferred with the Central Election Commission (KQZ) President Valdete Daka, who said the KQZ was ready to organize the early elections.

Thaci said that in accordance with the constitution, he would use every opportunity to find a solution to the new political reality in consultation with the parties represented in the Kosovo parliament.

He emphasized that a new, functional, efficient, inclusive and expeditious government that will advance important processes is essential for Kosovo, Pristina-based Zeri carried.

On Tuesday, Thaci began consultations on how to deal with the situation following the resignation of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and conferred with representatives of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian minority communities on Wednesday.
