Senior SMI officials oppose anti-COVID-19 curfew measures; DP Chair calls for

Socialist Movement for Integration Chair and Deputy Chair Monika Kryemadhi and Petrit Vasili in TV interviews and over social media have opposed the curfew measures introduced as of yesterday by the government in an effort to halt the spread of Novel coronavirus. They questioned the their validity in preventing the virus’s spread, with Vasili warning of a criminal lawsuit against Rama for unduly curbing the basic freedoms of Albanian citizens.

Democratic Party Chair Lulzim Basha reiterated the need for the allocation of more money to improve the equipment and protective gear of health personnel facing up the COVID-19 emergency and also testing kits for all Albanian citizens to help identify all infected people. He also called for the economic relief measures in favour of small businesses, consisting of the exemption form taxes and related tariffs of their suspension, as well as the social welfare measures for the poorer families and the elderly.
