US Congressman: Rights of Albanians in Serbia Must be Included in

The final agreement between Belgrade and Pristina must take into account the rights of ethnic Albanians in Serbia, US congressmen, Eliot Engel said, kossev.info portal reported on Monday.

“Although the future of normalization talks between Belgrade and Pristina remains unclear, it is imperative that any final agreement takes into account the rights of ethnic Albanians and address opportunities for economic growth in the Preshevo Valley,” Engel wrote in a letter to the Mayor of the Municipality of Presevo, ShqiprimArifi.

Arifi will be visiting the US between February 11th and February 13th and Engel requested a meeting with Arifi during his visit to discuss „Presevo Valley”, Prishtina daily Zeri published.

Engel is the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He is also known as a longtime lobbyist for Kosovo independence and the rights of Albanians in general, kossev.info reported.
