Vucic and Hoti in Washington for Negotiations Organized by the White House

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, will be traveling to the United States of America on September 3-5, where he will take part in talks on economic cooperation between Belgrade and Pristina, organized by the White House.

Kosovo's side will be represented by Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti.

Prior to his departure to the USA, Vucic had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as a meeting with the Russian ambassador to Serbia, and both the abovementioned conversations were directly related to the negotiations that are taking place in Washington and shortly after that in Brussels.

In the previous days, Vucic voiced an unexpected fear that he would be “surprised” in Washington in the form of a request for recognition of Kosovo within its current borders at an unannounced meeting with the US President Donald Trump.

However, according to the Voice of America, the talks - mediated by the US Special Presidential Envoy for Serbia and Kosovo Peace Negotiations Richard Grenell - will focus on the economy and are based on three agreements signed by the two sides: renewing the airline and developing rail and road traffic.

Grenell did not rule out the possibility that US President Trump would attend the meetings, and he did not rule out the possibility that other issues would be opened on Friday, September 5.

Citing reliable sources from the White House, many local media have reported in recent days that the United States has no secret plan or secret document to be offered to representatives of Belgrade and Pristina.
