Vucic Claims to Know Western Plan: EU Admission in Exchange for Recognition of

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Sunday that this year Serbia will be offered a plan for Kosovo that will be difficult to refuse but cannot be accepted.

In a 90-minute monologue on the TV Prva morning show, Vucic said that it is the “Association Plus, Plus, Plus” plan, i.e. “Ahtisaari Plus, Plus”, which essentially means that Serbia will be guaranteed admission into the EU provided that it recognizes Kosovo, with strong guarantees of the safety of the remaining Serb population and exterritorial status of Serbian churches and monasteries.

“They will tell Serbia you will get EU guarantees, but you have to recognize Kosovo and you will get special status for Serbs here and here,” Vucic said.

Vucic added that this solution will be worse than the one that he proposed and that he will not accept the ultimatum, even if the ultimate option is for him to resign as president of Serbia,

He announced that he would ask the people and reminded him that he presented his proposal three years ago, but that no one accepted it.

“I said three years ago what I would do; the people didn’t accept it. I presented the plan; I didn’t want to go into all the details; there were hidden things that I didn’t want our opponents to know. You didn’t accept, you will get a much worse solution, which I will not agree to,” said Vucic.

He said that “every morning he wakes with the fear” what the Germans and Americans will propose, and pointed out that very strong pressure on Belgrade will follow after the abolition of the Kosovo tariffs on Serbian goods.
