Vucic: I’ll Ask Merkel & Macron What to Talk About with Insolent

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic declared in Beijing that he is shocked by the insolence of official Pristina and that he does not know what he could talk about with Kosovo representatives anyway, the media report on Wednesday.

He added he’ll be asking that question to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and other leaders in Berlin, at a mini-summit of West Balkans announced for April 29.

“I have always respected Chancellor Merkel and President Macron. I’m sure they are smarter than me and that they’ll figure out something. Right now, I don’t see how I might be able to talk to Pristina and about what.

Vucic said that he will also be discussing this topic with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, although he is sure “they share his opinion”.

Stating that Kosovo will be a key topic for discussion, Vucic added he is shocked by Pristina’s insolence and arrogance, including by the fact that they did not validate the candidacy of the Serb Ticket (SL) for mayor election in four municipalities in Northern Kosovo.

“This is incredible; I am shocked just how far insolence and arrogance can go. This should be forbidden because it means abolishing democracy, and no one from the outside world reacted to that”, Vucic said.

“I don’t even want to say what it reminds me of if you prohibit someone from being a candidate just because you dislike their politics, even though there is nothing illegal to it, nor does it undermine human rights… Think about how you might call that”, Vucic declared.

He recalled that one of the points of the Brussels Accord was that Serbs should take part in elections under Kosovo laws, but that “Kosovo Albanians are now annoyed because the SL wins at elections”.

Vucic did not comment the explanation of Albanian politicians that it would be pointless for the SL to take part in local elections because the SL itself disbanded local bodies and announced it will do the same immediately following this election.

However, he claims that huge money has been invested to undermine the SL and to detach Kosovo Serbs from Belgrade and from Serbia.

“Just look at how many media outlets have been opened by foreigners in the North of Kosovo, just to undermine SL’s reputation, to wage campaign for the criminalization of the North and of Kosovo Serbs, but they have failed. They may write whatever they want, they may lie, but Serbs will always be with their people and their country”, Vucic declared without specifying which media he refers to.

In reality, however, Vucic’s propaganda machine operates smoothly in Northern Kosovo where he (and SL candidates who blindly obey him) get as many as 90 percent of votes at elections.
