Energy crisis, Germany prepares for 'blackout'

The consequences caused by the Russian war in Ukraine have also been reflected in countries with stable economies. Germany is one of the countries affected by the electricity crisis.

Experts have warned that a 'blackout' is the most likely scenario in Germany in conditions where the whole world is facing an energy crisis.

The association of German cities has asked for a good information of the population about the consequences that await them from the crisis, reports W "Blackout - the interruption of energy - is a realistic scenario", warned the head of the association, Helmut Dedy in the German newspaper "Süddeutschen Zeitung".

Germany has warned of restrictions. "A functioning supply of water and heating in an emergency is only possible for 72 hours" , said Dedy, as he emphasizes that awareness campaigns should be more present.

The German Interior Minister, Nancy Faeser, has spoken for more protection of critical infrastructure after the attack on the Nord Stream gas pipeline and the sabotage of the German railway cable network.

"The Russian attack against Ukraine marks a turning point for internal security as well. We are preparing for this. The protection of critical infrastructure has the highest priority", said the German minister.
