He denounced SP officials for vote buying, but the police are investigating Gjin Gjoni for defamation

Gjin Gjoni, the candidate of the DP-AshM coalition, has been reported to the police for defamation, after denouncing SP officials for vote buying.

Gjoni, in his public denunciation, named and cited the officials who, according to him, intimidate citizens and seek votes for the Socialist Party. He called on the judiciary to take urgent action against electoral criminals.

A day after accusing five members of the Socialist Party of vote buying, the Democratic candidate for Lezha, Gjin Gjoni, has been reported to the police for defamation.

"People from the Socialist Party itself inform me that these are some of the names that are part of the efforts to buy votes and intimidate citizens:

• Denis Pervathi – Director of Taxes at the Municipality of Lezha is operating in Kolsh

• Eraldo Smaçi – Director of IVMT in the Municipality of Lezha is operating in Zejme

• Paulin Gjergji – Director of Emergencies at the Municipality of Lezha is operating in Balldre

• Rigels Nicaj – Socialist Party official operating in Ishull-Lezh

• Fred Pervathi – Ambulance driver operating in Manati

• Agim Prendi – SP official operating in Zejme

• Emirjan Lazri – Director of the Health Inspectorate operating in Dajç

"These individuals and others that we will denounce with voice and image in the coming days must be investigated without delay and brought to justice, as we are determined that the will of the citizens will not be alienated as has happened in past elections ," Gjoni wrote in the denunciation.

However, the Lezha police have referred Gjoni for "Defamation" with the argument that the democratic candidate has defamed SP officials implicated in vote buying.

"The Lezha Police Commissariat services referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where the proceedings were initiated in a free state, for the criminal offense of "Defamation", for citizen Gj. Gj., 55 years old, resident of Lezha, candidate for deputy of the political entity "Democratic Party", after citizens DP, EL, ES, P. Gj. and RN (representatives and sympathizers of the political entity "Socialist Party") have reported that the 55-year-old has published on the social network "Facebook", a post through which he defames that 5 citizens are implicated in vote buying and voter intimidation" , the police announced.
