27-year-old drunk driver hits police officer in Peshkopi

A police officer on duty was hit by a car today at the Velia intersection, in Peshkopi.

Police report that he was hit by A.Sh., 27, who was under the influence of alcohol. After the incident, he was escorted to the police station, while the officer is in hospital under the care of doctors.

"Today, at around 18:30, at the Velia intersection, in Peshkopi, citizen A.Sh., 27 years old, driving a "Golf" type vehicle, is suspected of having lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle went off the road, colliding with a shop.

As a result of the accident, citizen V.Gj. (a police officer on duty) was injured and is in hospital under the care of doctors.

"Preliminary verifications have shown that the driver of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol and was taken to the police station for further procedural actions ," the police announced. 

The investigation team is at the scene and is working to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
