A suspect for espionage is detained in Kosovo!

The Kosovo Special Prosecution announced that it has arrested today a person with the initials HS, a citizen of Kosovo, suspected of committing the criminal offense of “Espionage”. He has been ordered to be detained for 48 hours. According to the Prosecution, the action for his arrest was carried out in cooperation with the Kosovo Police – Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes, as well as with the assistance of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.

It is also said that raids were carried out at two locations in Kosovo, where material evidence was seized, including several phones, which were allegedly used by the suspect during the commission of the criminal offense.

The state prosecutor has issued a 48-hour detention order against the suspect, and all necessary investigative actions will be taken against him for the successful development of the criminal procedure.

Espionage is the covert activity of collecting, transferring or distributing sensitive information to another state, organization or group. Under the Criminal Code of Kosovo, espionage is considered a serious crime and is punishable by a minimum of five years in prison, if convicted./ REL
