LDK proposes transitional government

The Democratic League of Kosovo has proposed a transitional government with all Albanian parties.

The leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, announced in a press conference that he refuses to meet with the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti.

"I received a letter from the VV chairman and, driven by considerations for VV voters, I felt the need to reiterate our positions and beliefs on the issues that have been raised on it. LDK, considering the 4-year stay, I am talking about endangered alliances, endangering national security... I have assessed cooperation with Kurti as impossible. But today the country is in a deep institutional crisis. And the LDK considers the solution to this blockade to be necessary. We propose the launch of a new political process. In accordance with this, the LDK proposes the launch of this process with all parties for the launch of a national transitional government", he declared. "The letter that arrived yesterday at the LDK offices has been reviewed... We are returning for a new political momentum. I invite all parties to be together to offer solutions".

Abdixhiku has said that he is ready to meet with party leaders at the first moment they want.

"Let's sit down at the table and talk. Let's start a process that starts unblocking the process within a short period of time. We need a unifying prime minister, with a unifying cabinet of ministers," Abdixhiku said.

The leader of the VV, Albin Kurti, a day ago sent an invitation to Lumir Abdixhiku of the LDK for a meeting to discuss a co-government agreement.

In the February 9 elections, the Vetëvendosje Movement secured 48 seats in the Assembly as the largest party. The LDK came in third with 20 MPs. The PDK has 24. Since April 15, the Kosovo Assembly has failed to constitute the ninth legislature in 11 attempts. The impasse has remained with the name proposed by the Vetëvendosje Movement for the Speaker of Parliament. Albulena Haxhiu has never managed to receive more than 57 votes.
