SPAK orders the Fier prosecutor's office to investigate the SP candidate,

SPAK has completed the investigations into the SP candidate for deputy in the Fier district, Zegjine Çaushi, and has concluded that we are not facing the criminal offense of "active corruption in elections", but you may be facing a case of consumption of 3 other criminal offenses that are within the competence of the Fier Prosecutor's Office.

Specifically, it concerns suspicions of committing the criminal offenses of "Abuse of office", "Use of public office for political or electoral activity" and "Threat or violence against election participants".

For this reason, SPAK has decided not to register criminal proceedings for "active corruption in elections", and to pass the file to the Fier Prosecutor's Office to conduct procedural investigative actions for these 3 other criminal offenses.

SPAK's investigations relate to an audio recording published on the show Piranjat, where SP candidate Zegjine Çaushi appears threatening a citizen to serve her boss in the 2021 elections, or if she were to comply with the law she would end up in prison.

This is a video from May 14, 2023. Zegjine Çaushi held the position of chief inspector of the IVMT of the Roskovec municipality, Majlinda Bufi.

In a sequence of the video, it appears to be a recorded phone conversation between Gazmend Borgji and Zegjine Çaushi.

Zegjine Çaushi: "...listen to him, they say the minimum fine is 5 million lek, and he'll do a couple of years in prison, you still don't understand now, for God's sake you'll spend hours in prison.."

But Zegjinja is not an unknown name to the residents of the area: he was previously involved in an incident with the residents of Kurjani who were reported to the police after they attempted to repair the road at their own expense.

A few days ago, Zegjine Çaushi was reported to the CEC by the Civic Center for using state assets in the campaign.
