Abdixhiku rejects coalition with Kurti: Proposes transition government with the

The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has responded to Prime Minister Albin Kurti's letter, rejecting the invitation for a coalition with the Self-Determination Movement (LVV) and proposing the creation of a national transitional government with the participation of all political parties.

In his public statement, Abdixhiku emphasized that after an in-depth review in the LDK offices, it was assessed that cooperation with the current prime minister is impossible, due to, as he put it, "four-year stagnation, endangerment of strategic alliances and the deep institutional crisis."

"I received a letter from the VV chairman and, driven by considerations for VV voters, I felt the need to reiterate our positions and beliefs on the issues raised there. The LDK, considering the institutional risk and national security, considers cooperation with Mr. Kurti impossible. We propose the launch of a new political process with all parties, to create a national transitional government," Abdixhiku declared.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, through a public letter, had requested that LDK join a coalition with LVV, emphasizing that LDK voters would most support this cooperation. He added that a meeting between him and Abdixhiku is necessary to discuss as mature politicians the future and progress of the country.

Kurti has previously attempted to meet with Abdixhiku on two occasions, but was rejected both times. With this latest rejection and the proposal for a transitional government, it appears that the political scene in Kosovo is entering a new phase of confrontation and negotiations.
