Hurricane Eunice hits Europe, nine dead, travel chaos

An Atlantic storm has hit northwestern Europe, with strong winds in recent hours, killing at least nine people. The region is facing a power outage, trees have been uprooted by strong winds, train services have been canceled.

Storm Eunice is the second major storm to hit western England.

The UK Weather Service has stated that a temporary wind measured at 122 mph (196 km / h), thought to be the strongest ever in England, has been recorded in the Isle of Wight. The storm is also hitting other Northern European countries, including Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands.

In Britain at least three people have died, in the Netherlands, four people were killed by trees, while in Belgium, strong winds brought a crane to the roof of a hospital and a British man died after being thrown from his boat into the water .

A man died in Ireland after being hit by a tree that fell on him while clearing the storm debris, RTE reported.
