Dritan Rexhepi is testifying for the first time about the kidnapping and murder of Jan Prenga.

At the GJKKO hearing, Rexhepi denied having any connection to the incident. He said that he was in prison at the time it happened.

"At the end of 2019 I was outside Albania. I was in prison in Ecuador, I was sentenced to 13 years for drug trafficking. Are you going to ask me about the case or are you going to hold a moral trial for me? I had been serving my sentence for 5 years and 4 months. I had contacts with people outside through the prison cell. There were a lot of Albanians in prison, I was close to someone from Kosovo. I was accused of drug trafficking with 10 other people, at that time there was also an Albanian involved. He was found innocent. I heard about Gentian Docaj (Funiqi) in the media and I didn't even read about him in the file.

The name means nothing to me. My lawyer brought me documents from the Florence prison, where it says that he and I were not in the same sector. I have never known Gentjan Funiq, never in my life. I have never heard of Martin Bleta, nor Korado Geshtenja. From prison, I have not cooperated in any way to give money related to drug trafficking. At the end of 2019, I had no information about the theft of a quantity of drugs in the Portsmouth port of London. I found out about it from the media in Albania. I heard from my family that in Albania I was accused of something that had happened in Albania. I heard from my family that I was accused of kidnapping a person who had disappeared," Rexhepi said .

Dritan Rexhepi, arrested in Istanbul on November 10, 2023, was extradited on January 8, 2025 to Tirana and sent directly to prison 313, under strict security measures.
