Veliaj seeks freedom, hearing to be held at the GJKKO today

Today, a court hearing will be held at the GJKKO for the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

The hearing against the Mayor, who has been in custody since February 10, will be held at 1:00 PM.

At the session on April 16, the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) presented the 2-month investigative actions taken against Erion Veliaj and the lawyers requested time to review the acts.

For this reason, the hearing was postponed to today (April 23). The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, is accused of “Passive corruption of high-ranking state officials or local elected officials”, committed in collaboration (9 times) and “Laundering of the proceeds of criminal offenses or criminal activity”.

He is also accused of "bringing prohibited items into detention cells."
