A plane with 58 passengers and four crew members has crashed in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.
The twin-engine turboprop plane was flying from Cascavel in the southern state of Paraná to the main airport in the city of São Paulo when it crashed in the city of Vinhedo, airline Voepass said, the BBC writes .
Images circulating on social media show a plane that was crashing.
"There is still no confirmation of how the accident happened or the current condition of the people on board," the airline said in a statement.
Local authorities said the plane crashed into a residential building.
Police and fire services are at the scene and local hospitals have been alerted.
Brazil's president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, held a minute's silence at an event where he was speaking.
