Alimehmeti: Erion Veliaj should be dismissed, Tirana should go to elections

Tirana Municipal Council member Ilir Alimehmeti demanded the dismissal of Erion Veliaj from the position of mayor.

In a statement from the blue headquarters, Alimehmeti said that the law should be implemented and Tirana should go to elections, as Rama seeks to usurp the municipality.

DECLARATION:

Yesterday we all saw the 'protection' of former Mayor Erion Veliaj by Prime Minister Edi Rama, and how this 'protection' actually had the purpose of seizing local power from the Prime Minister himself.

He openly declared that he would be the 'Remote Mayor of Tirana' in complete violation of the Constitution and every law in force in Albania or in the West.

He also openly appointed the Deputy Mayor of Tirana, again in complete violation of the Constitution and every law in force.

It is very clearly defined that the central government and local government are independent of each other and the determination of their leaders comes only through the vote and the representative bodies elected through it.

Very clearly, Law 139/2015, Article 7 states that: 'The representative body of the Municipality is the Municipal Council.'

Very clearly, Article 54 of the same law states that: 'The Municipal Council protects and guarantees the public interest.'

This means, very clearly, that the task in this case belongs to the Mayor of the City Council, Ms. Romina Kuko, who is silent, as well as the other 60 members of the City Council elected by vote.

With this behavior, Edi Rama has not behaved as Prime Minister, nor even as the Chairman of a Party, but as the Chairman of a Party-State, as he has done for a long time under the influence and continuous support of the two Soros.

Why is the Prime Minister behaving in this unconstitutional manner?

Because it is clear that the extortion of Tirana and its citizens was not carried out solely by the former Mayor, Veliaj, in isolation, but with his blessing, support, and shared interest.

Because he is clear that the imprisonment of the Socialist Party's de facto number 2, Veliaj, is a strong blow to this party and its Chairman himself.

Because he is clear that he needs to calm the 'uprising' within his socialist camp after the release of the next number 2, as he did with the government's number 2, Ahmetaj.

Because he is clear that the political situation within the socialist camp is slipping out of control, three months before the parliamentary elections.

These actions are only in the interest of the Prime Minister himself and no one else.

We demand that the same standard be used that was used in the case of Elvis Roshi in Kavaja, Shukri Xhelili in Dibër, Safet Gjici in Kukës, Jorgo Goro in Himara, etc. For violations of a much lower magnitude than Veliaj, these former mayors have been dismissed or have been asked to resign, to pave the way for local elections, as defined by law.

Therefore, we demand, in accordance with the Constitution and the law, the dismissal of the former Mayor of Tirana, and the solution to the problem created by the Rama-Veliaj duo through the free vote of the stolen citizens of Tirana.

Tirana needs a strong, sustainable solution and Change. This solution is not offered by the Renaissance that brought its clinical death.
