Berisha: Basha stated in DASH that I dictated the decisions to him, why did

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, who was released from house arrest a few days ago, spoke about the period when he was declared 'Non Grata' by the US.

Invited to News 24, Berisha said that former DP leader Lulzim Basha declared to the State Department and the American embassy that Sali Berisha dictated wrong decisions to him.

According to Berisha, this led to them being used as a pretext to attack his image at the time.

"Basha was one of those people who had declared to the State Department and the embassy that Sali Berisha was the person who dictated all the wrong decisions to me. And that's what they did, they used it as a pretext to justify hitting a man... Regarding the justice reform, I was of the opinion that we should make our own draft and send it to the Venice Commission ," Berisha said.

Berisha further spoke about the meetings he had with former American ambassador Donald Lu.

Berisha revealed that in one of the meetings, Donald Lu thanked him, after Berisha argued why the "Albanian FBI", which was proposed by Prime Minister Rama at the time, should not be applied in Albania.

"Donald Lu came to me, because initially Rama gave the idea of the Albanian FBI that would depend on the prime minister, and Donald Lu had been coming for 6 months and since he had come to my office for a visit, I went to his office for a courtesy visit. During this visit, this problem was raised, and I told him that this model cannot be in Albania because Albania cannot be a presidential republic and he thanked me, he said Sali, you have convinced me with this", Berisha said.
