Berisha in SPAK, Gjekmarkaj: They want the opposition to go with 'mouth closed' in the 2025 elections
The deputy of the Democratic Party, Agron Gjekmarkaj, has stated that an injustice is being done to the head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, because he is being held under "house arrest" without evidence.
Gjekmarkaj made the comments in Euronews Albania, where he said that the injustice against Berisha was organized by the government in cooperation with the justice system.
He added that today was a sad day for justice, as according to him, efforts are being made for the opposition to go with "hands tied" and "mouth closed" in the 2025 elections.
"We must talk about what is being done to Sali Berisha. Not simply for the political valence, as the man who led the democratic revolts, as the man of NATO, Albania without visas, but as a citizen who is hit in a personal way, where the Constitution of the country is violated to take away his freedoms.
This is done at a time when Berisha is also the leader of the opposition. Today was a sad day for justice in Albania. What is happening with Berisha is an unfair coup, a secret alliance with the government to lead the opposition with tied hands and closed mouth towards the 2025 election process.
The strength of the will of the democrats is what keeps Berisha in politics, which has turned him into a party. Sali Berisha is the one who remains and defines the political movements of the opposition ", said Gjekmarkaj.
We remind you that today Berisha appeared at the SPAK, where the Special Prosecutor's Office officially communicated the charges brought against him, after the end of the investigations.
