"Truth cannot be shackled", three DP MPs meet Salianj in prison

Three democratic deputies, Zheni Gjergji, Dhurata Çupi and Saimir Korreshi, held a meeting today in Fier prison with their colleague, Ervin Salianjin, who was sentenced to one year in prison accused of false reporting.

The news was announced by MP Gjergji on social networks, who wrote that she was surprised by the optimism and strength she found in Salianji during the whole conversation she had with him.

She adds that Salianji is the purest reflection of the return of political punishments and imprisonments.

The truth cannot be shackled

Today, together with colleagues Dhurata Çupi and Saimir Korreshi, we visited our colleague Ervin Salianji in the premises of IEVP Fier!

I was surprised by the optimism and strength that I found in Ervin during the whole conversation we had. It is not easy for a young, educated, ambitious guy, for a young politician, to find myself in those circumstances of isolation, but Ervin gave us a lot of positivity and optimism throughout the conversation.

Albania is experiencing not good days as far as the state of law and freedom of the individual is concerned, and colleague Salianji is the purest reflection of the return of punishments and political imprisonments. The deputy chairman of the PD parliamentary group and the political leader of the Elbasan district is in prison today, not because he stole Albanian taxpayers' money. Today, Salianji is not in prison because he took advantage of tenders or because he has a criminal past. Ervini is in prison today because he dared and raised his voice for the brother of the former Minister of the Interior, convicted of drug trafficking. Deprivation of freedom is on the one hand one of the most serious acts that can be inflicted on an individual, while on the other hand Salianj's sacrifice is and should be for all of us his colleagues a strong message of resistance.
