The Supreme Court rejects Salianji's request, DP reacts: Political re-sentence under Rama's orders

The Supreme Court rejects Salianji's request, DP reacts: Political

The Democratic Party has considered as a re-sentence of the democratic deputy Ervin Salianji the decision of the Supreme Court taken today by rejecting his request for the suspension of the sentence.

The Secretary for Legal Affairs in the Democratic Party, Ivi Kaso, said in a statement to the media that the detention of the vice president of the Democratic parliamentary group is a medal for him and the opposition, and a stain of shame for the government and its courts, which according to him have turned the persecution of opposition figures into a witch hunt.

Full statement:

The Democratic Party considers the Supreme Court's decision taken today under the pressure and orders of Edi Rama as a re-sentence of the Democratic MP Ervin Salianji.
Against an illegal and politically motivated decision, the body of the Supreme Court neither rose to the task nor served the balance between the powers in Albania which Edi Rama has erased with a stroke of the pencil.
The detention of the deputy chairman of the democratic parliamentary group is a medal for him and the opposition, and a stain of shame on the government and its courts, which have turned the persecution of opposition exponents into a witch hunt.
The Democratic Party once again expresses its support for its deputy and for every opposition voice that stands up against the regime.
The DP emphasizes that there is no peace without the release of all the opponents unjustly kept in solitary confinement or in cells.
The servants of Edi Rama and Fatmir Xhafajt in the judiciary cannot silence the opposition nor force it to, like them, turn into a complaint against the government.
