Teliti: The government undertook an "anti-Albanian product" policy

The member of the Municipal Council of Tirana, Dorjan Teliti, expressed through a post on social networks that the doubling of the excise duty on local beer managed to hit the Albanian production.

According to him, after many objections and warnings, after the rejection of our amendment in November 2022 for the non-increase of the excise duty on domestically produced beer, after the insistence and force of the violent government card, since January 1, 2023 the excise duty on Albanian beer was doubled, already being treated the same as imported beers.

He added that from that moment some Albanian entities go bankrupt, the production and sale of local beer begins to decline, while the import of foreign beer increases significantly.

Teliti added that the government for the umpteenth time, just like with agricultural and livestock products, undertook an "anti-Albanian product" policy, hitting local production and favoring some "importing friends".

Full reaction:

The doubling of the excise duty on local beer managed to hit the Albanian production. The import of "friends" flourished.

As a reminder: After many objections and warnings, after the rejection of our amendment in November 2022 for the non-increase of the excise duty on domestically produced beer, after the insistence and force of the violent government card, as of January 1, 2023, the excise duty on Albanian beer was doubled , already being treated the same as imported beers.

Fact 1: From that moment, some Albanian subjects go bankrupt, the production and sale of domestic beer begins to decline, while the import of foreign beer increases significantly.

Fact 2: While until January 1, 2023 the market and sales were dominated by local Albanian production, now 60% of the market and sales are import production, with a trend that continues to grow month after month.

The bitter conclusion: the government for the umpteenth time, just like with agricultural and livestock products, undertook the "anti-Albanian product" policy, hitting local production and favoring some "importing friends".

Enough with these clientelistic policies, Albanian entrepreneurship was hit enough.

The Constitutional Court should accept the right request of the Association of Producers and Traders of Local Alcoholic Beverages, canceling the doubling of the Rama excise on Albanian beer.
