Çupi: The punishment of opposition MPs by the communist regime 77 years

The DP MP, Dhurata Çupi, recalled the punishment of the group of MPs by the communist regime 77 years ago, an action that is being repeated by the socialist regime of Edi Rama.

Çupi emphasized that it was a sad and decisive day for Albania at that time, which even today, after 77 years, remains a painful memory.

"In respect and in memory of those wise men, those who dared to think differently at a time when every free thought was severely punished. A sad and decisive day for Albania at that time, which even today, after 77 years, remains a painful memory.

"Forcible overthrow of popular power"!

"For the act of high treason for the overthrow of the Albanian democratic state..." are punished: by death, by firing squad!

• "Group of deputies", the first and only opposition that was born in the newly formed communist Albania;

• Intellectuals and liberals, graduates of Western universities;

• Members of the Albanian Parliament, some of them proposed as Democratic Front candidates;

• Initiators to stop the communist revenge and to prevent the approval of the first communist draft constitution;

• Opponents of Enver Hoxha's dictatorial state.

The State Security was well aware of this and acted quickly, wasting no time, brutally suppressing their free voices.

They were 40 open minds, prominent names, clear voices in the middle of the red mess that was covering Albania. After a month of trial, until the last moments, they kept the hope that their former parliamentary colleagues would spare their lives. But, vain hope... As only communists know how to do, their pleas were harshly rejected.

16 executed by death, in a list of 40 convicts! In the early hours of the morning of October 10-12, 1947, the firing squad took them to the Mali me Gropa area, where they were executed.

Reminder not to forget, can you think and act freely in democracy? Not in Albania! Neither yesterday, nor today, and tomorrow seems in the twilight!", writes Çupi.
