Scabies alert in Pogradec: More than 10 suspected cases in schools
A contagious disease of scabies has alarmed the city of Pogradec, where 3 out of 4 children receiving care in a boarding school have tested positive.
The news has been confirmed by the dormitory manager, Emiliano Kuqo, who said that the children have been placed in quarantine, and the disinfection of the premises is expected.
"This year, the disease appeared again, which was discovered by the health center of the schools where the children stay.
After the discovery, they were sent for medical treatment, and we disinfected our premises," said Kuqo to Euronews Albania.
According to communications with the doctors of the Directorate of Public Health in Pogradec, more than 10 new cases of scabies are suspected.
Full control of schools is ongoing to prevent further spread of the disease, which is easily spread through direct contact.
