Socialist Party leader Edi Rama has called an urgent meeting of the parliamentary group of this political force, where the focus of discussions will be the arrest of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj on orders from SPAK.

Socialist MPs, asked by journalists at the entrance to the Parliament, have been reserved in commenting, while some have distanced themselves, considering it a matter of justice.

"I have not commented on the judicial decisions, but Erion Veliaj has been and will remain a good friend of mine," said Toni Gogu.

"The Socialist Party does not interfere in judicial matters and does not comment on them," said Lavdërim Krashi.

Rama is expected to give them instructions on what stance they will take, as strong debates are expected in the Assembly hall.
