The former deputy director of the Tirana Police, Erzen Breçani, has recounted the details of how he was able to save Gert Shehu, Sali Berisha's aggressor, from the crowd moments after the attack.

Invited to the show Now on Euronews Albania, the former police officer said that Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta intervened so that Gert Shehu would not be beaten further by the crowd.

"Sali Berisha, after we took him out to the sidewalk from the crowd, his bodyguard came and said that the doctor ordered that we should hand him over to the police and that he should not be touched again. I was walking and talking with him on the sidewalk. I am grateful to them for convincing me", said Breçani.
