Arrested for stalking Dibra hospital director, house arrest for Irini Shehu

The former director of the Dibër Regional Hospital, Irini Shehu, was placed under house arrest today. Irini Shehu's detention was carried out following reports from the staff of the Dibër Regional Hospital, initially based on the clash she had with the chief of finance, Shaban Uklala, whom she hit with hard objects in the hospital premises.

37-year-old Shaban Uklala filed a report against her with the Dibra Police, followed by many other reports against other hospital employees.

44-year-old Irini Shehu was dismissed from her position as head of the Dibra Regional Hospital a few weeks ago and while she was being investigated at large, other hospital employees have denounced her for insults and threats.

The police announced that they initiated another proceeding against Shehu on April 22, 2025, after he allegedly threatened a 48-year-old woman through phone calls and messages.

On Thursday, April 23, Irini Shehu appeared at Dibra Hospital, although she was detained and it is learned that she had another clash with hospital employees.

Based on these reports, the Prosecutor's Office ordered the arrest of Irini Shehu, but the latter tried to evade legal responsibility by staying in one of the hospital rooms, claiming to be ill. During her stay in the hospital, she was monitored by the State Police, while considering the arrest warrant illegal and unfounded.
