The investigative show Vetting reveals the list of foods given to children in kindergartens and nurseries in Përmet, tendered by the Municipality, for 2025.

In the analysis of the foods that are ordered, some products according to dieticians are not advisable for children. The approved list is unified throughout the country. Especially baking powder is not very advisable.

While it is noticeable that 5 thousand kg of wholemeal bread will also be used, which is also a large amount to serve children up to 5 years old. While there are also a number of fruits and other products, such as cinnamon, kaçkavall cheese, various fruits, which parents say are not given to children at all. In state kindergartens, breakfast is often very lukewarm, lunch is mainly some soup.

The list of foods that will be supplied to kindergartens is dominated by large quantities of products that are used little or not at all by children. In the standard tender documents we see that it is a long list of food products, where a good part of them are consumed very rarely by children in kindergarten, and almost not at all by children in daycare. We see that oats, corn flour, baking powder, lemons, which are used in a reduced amount by children, will be purchased in large quantities.

Appointments contrary to the law
But not only that, the mayor of Përmet has made appointments contrary to the law, breaking the law and the established regulations.

The employment of employees by the Municipality of Përmet for whom an open competition procedure has not been previously conducted, in addition to contradicting the public interest, the principle of free competition and equality before the law, among other things, constitutes an increased risk, negatively affecting the smooth running of the institution's work.

Regarding the above, the Municipality of Përmet has acted in violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania, Article 107, point 2, which states that: "Public administration employees are appointed by competition, with the exception of cases provided for by law."
