Berisha: Albanians spend 4 times more on medicine than on bread

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, held a meeting with the residents and structures of branch number 4 in Tirana, where he presented the candidates for deputies in this area. In his speech, the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, focused on healthcare and the lack of medicines, which according to him, Albanians spend 4 times more on in a year than on bread.

Berisha : Not only that. This amount is insufficient for medicines, so all low-wage earners and there will be no salaries below 500 euros.
All low-wage earners, all pensioners will have a consumer card with which they will buy basic things, food 20% cheaper than others.
Medicines. Albania will adapt the list of medicines of the Italian Republic point by point and will reimburse it 100% for its citizens. In this way, we give a dignified response to the problem of medicine, of health care.

Two basic services for every nation, education and health, have degraded in the most unacceptable way. They have collapsed to the point of almost collapse.
If you take the health system, it is an extremely problematic system.
It is a system in which the seriously ill in hospitals are taken by the disease because they do not have medicine for treatment.
It is a system in which a patient who shows a concern has to wait months and months to have a scan or an MRI.
It is a system in which the treatment is half-hearted, or the one that is not needed.
You have followed the terrible drama that is taking place in the oncology hospital. Nowhere in the world does that happen.
Three months ago, Edi Rama declared that crimes against humanity are taking place there. Indeed, yes. In fact, it is a real crime against humanity, if you keep the patient you have taken for treatment and do not give him the medicines needed to fight the disease.
This is a crime.
But from that day until today, Edi Rama has not taken a single measure. Why? Because he is the author of that crime. Because the director and the minister steal the funds for those medicines that should have been purchased for the sick, and this is the reason.
They eat pears and share them with the prime minister.
My friends, this dramatic situation of healthcare for Albanians, ends.
We will double the budget for healthcare and I guarantee every Albanian that no other quality medicine will ever be sold on the territory of Albania, only those that are sold in two EU countries.
And that there will never be a shortage of vital medicines for the treatment of our patients.
The salaries of doctors and nurses will double.
The equipment, every hospital and the entire system will be equipped.
Do you know, friends, today, official government statistics confirm that in 1 year you, all of us Albanians, spend 820 million euros out of pocket on healthcare.
We spend 3-4 times out of pocket what the people of EU member states spend.
We spend 2-3 times as much as all the people in the countries around us in the Balkans.
So spending 820 million euros on healthcare, do you know that it means that Albanians who in 1 year spend a total of 220 million euros on bread, spend 4 times more on medicines than on bread.
Who spends these? Only those who have. Those who don't have are left at the mercy of diseases. So this is the health situation.
