US and OSCE representatives attend mass for Pope Francis at St. Paul's

A memorial mass in honor of Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21, 2025, was held this afternoon at the “St. Paul” Cathedral in Tirana. The ceremony brought together all the bishops of the Albanian dioceses, representatives of the Catholic community and dozens of believers who prayed for the soul of the Holy Father.

Also present at this solemn moment were the United States Chargé d'Affaires in Tirana, Nancy Varnhorn, and the OSCE Ambassador, Michel Tarran, who honored the figure of Pope Francis and his message of peace and humility.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, all four leaders of religious communities in Albania are expected to participate in the funeral ceremony to be held in the Vatican.

Pope Francis has died at the age of 88, after more than a decade at the helm of the Catholic Church, where he led 1.3 billion believers worldwide. He was praised for his simplicity and devotion to the poor, but also criticized for his reformist stances.
