Debate on immigrants/ Rama telephone conversation with the British Prime

The British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak held a telephone conversation with the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, this afternoon.

According to an announcement from the British embassy in Tirana, the two leaders appreciated the close long-term relationship between the United Kingdom and Albania and committed to strengthening cooperation in trade, investment and defense, including cyber security.

Prime Minister Sunak acknowledged the positive contribution of the Albanian community to British society, but both leaders agreed that more needs to be done to address illegal immigration and challenge organized crime.

They discussed plans to increase cooperation to address common challenges, including closing loopholes that are preventing the prompt return of rejected asylum seekers.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Prime Minister Edi Rama welcome working together to address these issues and deepen the comprehensive relationship between the United Kingdom and Albania," the announcement states.

We remind you that illegal Albanian immigrants who cross the English Channel illegally have become a concern for the British government and authorities.

The massive influx of Albanians on illegal roads also caused a distant clash with the British Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, and Prime Minister Edi Rama when the latter condemned Braverman's statement which called Albanians criminals.

British ministers are seeking to find a fast-track deportation route to return Albanians to a country they deem "safe", while Rama has sought a deal to include a German-style work visa scheme for Albanians. to come to the UK.
