The fire in Prespa is out of control, the flames include the National Park

The fire situation in Malin e Thate worsened yesterday evening. The flames of the fire continue to spread, expanding the burned surface not only inside the Prespa National Park, but it has passed to the other side of the Dry Mountain above the village of Peshkpi in the Municipality of Pogradec, risking the burning of large areas with low vegetation.

Official sources indicate that yesterday there was an increased commitment of the forces to contain the flames inside the National Park, but according to the fire service, the only way to extinguish the fires is intervention from the air, which has been missing for two days.

Unofficial sources said that only after two days the intervention from the air via Greek and Bulgarian helicopters is expected, after official requests addressed to these two countries.

On the part of North Macedonia, the fire has been reactivated, and for this reason, the fire service is unable to help extinguish the flames in the Prespa National Park.
