Dozens of quintals of potatoes remain unsold in Bllacë of Dibra
Potato farmers in the Bulqiza area are facing a lack of sales market. The farmers of the village of Bllacë in the Shupenzë Administrative Unit in Bulqizë say that the situation is the same every year, while they cannot even cover the production costs.
Farmer Din Osmani says that this year there was a good production of potatoes, but the sales market remains a major problem, as they do not know where to take the production. Osmani adds that he will be forced to throw the production into the stream, since no one is interested in the potato, which comes much cheaper from other neighboring countries of Albania.
Farmer Din Osmani says that for the next season he has not decided whether he will plant more potatoes, only if he is provided with a market for sale by the state. Osmani adds that if they have a secure market, the whole village would grow potatoes and produce thousands of quintals.
Although production in high areas such as Bllaca is late, the local market is flooded with imported products that compete with our products. /BW
