Two citizens extradited to Albania, one for attempted murder, the other for VAT

In an operation carried out by Interpol Tirana, two citizens were extradited to Albania: one for attempted murder and the other for fraud in order to obtain a VAT refund.

Albanian citizen Bashkim Koçi, 40 years old, was extradited from Athens. He was wanted for the criminal offenses of "Intentional Murder", which remained an attempt, and "Unlicensed Possession and Production of Explosive Weapons and Ammunition". Koçi is suspected of having attempted to kill AD on June 1, 2023, during a conflict over weak motives with citizen AD, with a pistol in the "Partizani" neighborhood, Burrel, seriously wounding him.

Meanwhile, Italian citizen Salvatore Cascino, 53, was extradited from Italy. He was wanted for VAT fraud and forgery of documents. Cascino is accused of having, in collaboration with other citizens, created a system of fictitious companies that carried out false consultancy contracts, in order to create a credit surplus and to abusively request VAT refunds. Through this scheme, an amount of 20,765,411 lek was obtained in 2022.

This operation had support from Italian authorities and came after Operation "Skema" conducted in Albania in 2023.
