Euro 2024/ Bajram's record goal was not enough, Italy defeats Albania 2-1

Albania lost 2-1 to Italy in their opening match in the European Championship, valid for group B.

The Reds were the first to take the lead as they managed to score through Nedim Bajrami for a 1-0 score after 23 seconds of play.

Italy hit back immediately by leveling the scores at 1-1 through Alessandro Bastoni who headed home Lorenzo Pellegrini's cross.

"Azurre" managed to find the goal again this time through Nicolo Barellas who in the 16th minute with a shot from outside the area scored for the result 2-1.

 Second-half substitute Rey Manaj had a very good chance to equalize in the 89th minute, but Donnarumma denied him the goal. 

Albania will play the next match against Croatia on Wednesday, while Italy will play against Spain.
