Neighbor tells of screams in building: Windows were closed when Palestinian

New details have emerged regarding the tragic murder of 24-year-old Palestinian woman, Rayyan Alwan, who was stabbed to death by her father, Fadi Alwan, in Tirana. The victim had been previously married but divorced and had three children, who are now with their father.

Rayyan's family in Germany have given evidence, showing that she lived a free life and far from the principles of Islam, a lifestyle that was particularly opposed by her father. Residents of the neighborhood where the incident occurred said they heard loud screams on Sunday, but were unable to understand where they were coming from. "We were shocked, after going in and out all day with the children. The windows were closed and we only heard noises from above," said one resident.

The incident has shocked the entire neighborhood, which has always been a quiet area where families live. Police have launched investigations and have also requested information from the Kosovo authorities, as it is suspected that the travel documents of Fadi Alwan and his daughter may have included identification from Kosovo, while the border crossing was made with Greek documents.

Fadi Alwan, who arrived with his daughter from Germany in Tirana on February 19, is suspected of killing Rayyan in a rented room on the third floor of a building on “Gjon Muzaka” Street. After the crime, he took the girl’s passport and cell phone and fled to Athens, then traveled to Amsterdam and, further, to Lebanon. Rayyan’s lifeless body was found on February 27 by the apartment’s owner.

The main line of investigation is the conflict the victim had with her family, caused by the divorce and the lifestyle she followed. Currently, Fadi Alwan is suspected to be in Lebanon, and the police are cooperating with Interpol to capture him.
