Fredi Beleri is elected vice-chairman of the Committee for Petitions in the

MEP Fredi Beleri, the former elected head of the municipality of Himara, whose mandate was removed by the CEC, has been elected the second vice-chairman of the Committee for Petitions in the European Parliament, during today's election process for the chairmen of the European Parliament's committees.

The MEP from New Democracy in Greece, imprisoned in Albania, secured the necessary votes with the support of several parties and the leader of the DR Eurogroup, Eliza Vozemberg.

Beleri himself in a reaction says that he was informed in Fier prison about the election as vice-president of the Committee for Petitions in the European Parliament.

"I thank my colleagues for electing me vice-chairman of the Appeals Commission, which I was informed about through the Albanian prisons. It is a great honor and an even greater responsibility for a newly elected MEP, but also for our country. Soon my adventure will end and I will be able to fulfill the tasks that the Greek citizens voted for me ", says Beler's reaction.
