The economics journalist, Ola Xama, known for denouncing corrupt affairs related to the government, has published the budget changes with a normative act, part of which is the project for the construction of "Durrës Yacht Marina" and the plan to move the commercial port to Porto Romano.

In a post on social networks, the journalist explains that the value accounted for in the budget for the new port is 415 million euros.

She further clarifies that this project was initially said to be partially financed by the Durrës Port Authority and prestigious international companies or by NATO, but with the budget changes there was only one movement: 95 million euros from the good performance of revenue collection go to finance the new port from the state budget.

"Today we are in this account: we forgive 300 million euros in taxes and assets, we give 415 million euros to build the port in Porto Romano and at the end of 20 years we benefit 282 million euros. So far, the loss has been 433 million euros", writes the journalist.

When the government sent to the Assembly the approval of the project for the construction of "Durrës Yacht Marina" and the plan to move the commercial port to Porto Romano, the first question that arose was its feasibility.

What does feasible mean? For a project to be considered such from a financial point of view, it means that it generates more income than the current one.

According to the Business Plan submitted by the company "Eagle Hills Real Estate Development", the side of the Albanian state will benefit a total of 282 million euros at the end of 20 years.

In order to earn these 282 million euros, he makes the land available, forgives some taxes and cleans up the territory, contributions that at today's value cost approximately 300 million euros.

To pave the way for this, a new port will be built in another area. The value accounted for in the budget for the new port is 415 million euros.

This project was initially said to be partially financed by the Durrës Port Authority and prestigious international companies, of which 40 had expressed interest.

Their interest apparently remained only in the chronicles of some media that have turned into government press offices, which after a few months proudly announced that the construction of the port would be financed by NATO.

The government approved the budget changes by normative act, where there was only one move in the public investment plan: 95 million euros from the good performance of revenue collection go to finance the new port.

The expenses for the construction of the new port were initially earmarked in the budget as foreign financing, but since neither NATO nor any bank considered the project feasible, the money is being provided from the budget.
