"Spend taxpayers' money in Albania", Meloni retorts with the

The Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has responded on social networks with the non-governmental organization "Sea Watch", as the latter in a post on the "X" platform wrote that Meloni is spending millions of euros to imprison thousands of immigrants in Albania.

Sea Watch further adds that taxpayers' money could have been put to better use.

"The Meloni government of self-proclaimed patriots spends hundreds of millions of taxpayers' euros to deport and imprison several thousand immigrants in Albania. "Perhaps Italians' taxes could be better spent welcoming and including, rather than rejecting," the organization writes.

Meloni has responded to the organization saying that the agreement with Prime Minister Rama for refugees is to protect the Italian borders and to stop human trafficking.

"What a scandal! A government that, with a clear mandate received from the citizens, works to protect the Italian borders and to stop the trafficking of human beings, through concrete actions and international agreements", writes Meloni.
