Former Albanian Ambassador to Ukraine: Why Putin will find it difficult to

The former ambassador of Albania to Ukraine, Sokol Gjoka, commented on Russia's attacks in Ukraine and made a prediction on how the tension between the two countries could continue.

Invited to the studio of "This Week" in News 24, Gjoka said that Russia is not only lonely in the midst of this conflict, but also Vladimir Putin will find it very difficult to achieve his goal in Ukraine.

According to Gjoka, the Russian president used baseless arguments to launch attacks on Ukraine. On the other hand, in front of him is Kiev and its citizens who are defending the country with a strong resistance, also supported by a broad international solidarity.

"It is unimaginable for a permanent Security Council member to attack a neighboring border country like Ukraine. Given the relations between the two countries, where peoples are treated as brothers, where they almost have common experiences, common cultures and histories, there comes a time to face them in conditions of war, which is accompanied by casualties, horrors, property damage, uncertainty, crisis. People on both sides already consider each other as enemies, in addition to the armed forces. It was out of any kind of logic, but nonetheless the war happened. This is not the first time Russia has taken such action. We have the events in Georgia in 2008, which led to the annexation of two regions of Georgia, which are already under the leadership of Russia. We have the events of 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea, blocking access to the Black Sea, and putting pressure on Ukraine, and that already happened. The arguments used by Putin were baseless, to take this action, which has serious consequences. In these conditions, I would say that in addition to Ukraine and the Ukrainians are defending their country, with a strong resistance, with a great international solidarity, as never before, I think that Russia is not only lonely, but has a lot difficult to achieve its goal this time ", said the former ambassador.
