The Albanian wanted by the Italian police, 35-year-old Dorian Petoku, was arrested in Dubai. Petoku had taken refuge in Dubai after escaping in December 2023 from the rehabilitation center in Nola, Naples, where he had been transferred with a medical certificate.
The 34-year-old Albanian was a friend of Fabrizio Piscitelli, nicknamed "Diabolic", who was killed during an ambush in 2019 and had relations with Salvatore Casamonica, the head of the clan that controls Eastern Rome. Petoku was sentenced to 12 years in prison as part of a criminal organization.
Raised in Lezhë, Petoku began to gain experience in the world of arms, drug and human trafficking before landing in Rome, at Ponte Milvio.
The cousin of the Albanian drug lord, Arben Zogu, over the years gained more and more importance in the underworld of the Italian capital.
He became known in a photo taken on December 13, 2017 at the restaurant 'L'Oliveto' in Grottaferrata. There are four men at the table. One is the "Frenchman", an infiltrator, next to him is Salvatore Casamonica and in front of him "Diabolik" Piscitelli and Dorian Petoku.
According to what was reconstructed by the investigation, the main topic of the conversation was a truce in the conflict that had erupted between the Esposito and Spada families.
Not only that, Piscitelli, Casamonica and Petoku were also planning to transport a large amount of drugs from South America. The low-cost operation called "Brazil" involves the arrival in Italy of 7 tons of cocaine hidden in the bags of a youth soccer team.
Petoku was arrested in Albania after the "Grande Raccordo Criminale" investigation. He stayed in his hometown for two years, the time needed to obtain a medical certificate certifying his drug addiction. Upon arrival in Italy, he was searched and traces of drugs were found in his hair.
While no one seems to have questioned how he got it, since he was in prison, he was found to have the same drug addiction problem. Despite the opposition of the Prosecution, he was transferred to the recovery community of Morlupo, from where he was transferred to that of Nola. Petoku managed to escape, taking advantage of the weaker security measures.
Petoku is the second Albanian arrested in a few days by the Dubai police on account of Italian justice.
