Analyst Fatos Lubonja commented on the elections in Himare held on August 4.

In a link to News 24, Lubonja said that the elections in Himare showed that the situation in Albania does not change with elections. He said that the elections of Himara were interfered in many ways.

Fatos Lubonja:  Here we are dealing with a regime where the outcome seems to have been decided. This shows that the situation in Albania does not change with elections, since the state has been captured. It has been interfered with in an all-round way, with transfers of people, etc. that I have seen. In my opinion, the opposition should not enter the elections, as a warning for what awaits them in the 2025 elections. As far as I know, Vangjel Dule has taken over these elections. Himara's biggest problem is property. Rama distributed tapi before the elections.

In a small country like Albania, power influences more easily. I think that Rama has introduced the opposition to a very dramatic alternative. The alternative is either become my facade, that is, enter the parliament, pretend to be the opposition, or I will give the role of the opposition to Basha or someone else and annihilate. The opposition should not be done like this, something stronger is needed. Rama has taken the path of eliminating the opposition. I am also for denouncing internationals. Not even Greece reacted to these elections, I believe some agreement was made.
