Artan Lame passes away, his mother confirms: This cursed moment came

Artan Lame, former head of the Cadastre, has passed away at the age of 58 after a difficult heart surgery.

His mother also confirmed the bitter news through an announcement on social media.

"Dear friends, colleagues and well-wishers. I cannot bear to write about the loss of my dear, beloved son Artan Lame. But this cursed moment came and took away the hope that I had yesterday. I was hoping because he promised me that he would return, "...-I don't mind tomorrow (when he will be operated on) I am fine, I am calm but I am focusing on the Museum." Even when I woke him up from his sleep, he would talk about the Museum. When they bring Tanin here, we will let you know the further procedures," writes Diana Lame.

A few months ago he suffered another stroke, after an ischemia. Meanwhile, his heart showed problems again. After a week in Germany, Artan Lame was unable to cope with another difficult intervention.

Artan Lame began to mark the traces he hoped to leave in history by engaging in several state duties where he stood out as a dedicated and visionary leader. In 2000, he was Director of Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture, then until 2002, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Tirana. For another 3 years, Deputy Minister of Territory and Tourism.

From 2013, he headed the Agency for Legalization, Urbanization and Integration of Informal Areas (ALUIZNI) for 6 years. He concluded his public engagement with state duties as Director General of the State Cadastre Agency.

A publicist and opinion leader, his rare passion was history. He is ranked among the country's best collectors, an activist committed to protecting the country's cultural heritage.

Artan Lame was a candidate for deputy of the Socialist Party in the parliamentary elections of 2005, 2009, and 2013. He also contributed to the drafting of the Socialist Party's program in the period 2011–2013.

In 2012, the President of the Republic decorated him with the "Medal of Gratitude" for his contribution to the 100th anniversary of Albania's Independence.
