The government's new proposal: The administration can come to work whenever

The Ministry of State for Public Administration and Anticorruption has proposed changes to the law on the duration of work and rest, introducing the concept of flexible daily hours.

In the proposal made public today, it is said that the administration will have to work 8 hours and 30 minutes from Monday to Thursday, and 6 hours on Friday.

So, they can choose the schedule when they want to come to work, as long as the work is not left empty every day from 9:30 to 15:30, while on Friday from 9:30 to 13:00: 00.

In fact, according to the clarification, we are not dealing with a reduction of the schedule, but the change is related to a VKM for the new rules of duration at work, while it is clarified that these changes were made due to the temperatures of the last days, as reported in some media.

Media release

The Minister of State for Public Administration and Anticorruption has proposed an amendment to VKM no. 568, dated 6.10.2021 "On the adoption of rules for the duration of work and rest, additional hours and their compensation in state administration institutions, independent institutions and local self-government units", which is introduced for the first time in the public administration the concept of flexible daily schedule.

Flexibility in working hours has been a main request expressed by administration employees, in order to create a more supportive work environment for everyone.

The draft decision proposes that within the daily duration of work, employees have the opportunity to choose the times when they will complete the full hours of the working day, setting a time band when all employees must be at work.

Specifically, within the framework of this draft decision, it is proposed in the state administration institutions:

• The daily duration of working hours should be 8 hours and 30 minutes from Monday to Thursday and 6 hours on Friday.

• The daily work schedule should be flexible, provided that full hours are completed (ie 8.5 hours and 6 hours).

• The mandatory time zone when all employees must be at their workplaces, should be every day from 9:30 to 15:30, and on Friday from 9:30 to 13:00.

This initiative comes as a response to improve flexibility and efficiency in public administration, reflecting the needs of employees for a more convenient schedule and a better balance of life and work.

This change is not related to the high temperatures of the last few days, as has been published in some portals, but to the stable injection of flexibility at work.
