On October 15, Albania opens negotiations with the EU for the first chapter

Albania opens negotiations with the European Union for the first group chapter on October 15. The meeting will be held in Luxembourg, while the second Albania-EU intergovernmental conference is also held on this date.


The first chapter group is one of the most important, as it touches on essential areas, such as justice and the judiciary. The first chapter group, or as it is called 'basics', includes a total of 7 chapters, as follows:

-Functioning of democratic institutions
-Public administration reform
-Chapter 23 - Judiciary and fundamental rights
-Chapter 24 - Justice, freedom and security
-Economic criteria
-Chapter 5 - Public procurement
-Chapter 18 - Statistics -Chapter 32 - Financial control

The negotiating chapters are divided into 6 thematic groups: Basics; internal market; competitiveness and inclusive growth; green agenda and sustainable connectivity; resources, agriculture and cohesion and external relations.
