Albania "under occupation" of bad weather, rain, snow and traffic
Intense rain and snowfall have covered the entire territory of Albania, bringing significant deterioration of weather conditions and problems in many areas.

Drastic drop in temperatures
Temperatures have dropped significantly across the country, especially in mountainous areas where the thermometer has recorded several degrees below zero. In these areas, the presence of fog and frost has created great difficulties in road traffic.

Murriz bypass blocked again
Due to worsening weather conditions, traffic on the Murriz bypass has been blocked. Police have set up checkpoints at the Klos roundabout, diverting traffic to the old Klos-Burrel-Milot road.

Critical situation in different areas of the country

Mirdita: Mountainous areas such as Fan, Orosh and Selita have been covered by snow several centimeters thick, blocking rural roads and cutting off electricity in some villages. The National Road is being monitored due to frost.
Dibër: The snow depth has reached up to 40 cm in remote areas, while some road axes are passable only with chains. Drivers are advised to equip themselves with winter tires and exercise maximum caution.
Korça and Elbasan: Snowfall in Qafë Thanë and Prrenjas has made vehicle movement difficult, causing some drivers to stop due to strong winds and heavy snow.
Problems with electricity supply
Kukësi and Shkodra have faced a lack of electricity in some areas. In Kukës, the snow has reached up to 30 cm, while strong winds have created snow accumulations in the valleys. In Shkodra, rural roads such as Kir-Shosh and other areas are blocked by landslides and snowfall.

Durrës-Bari sailings suspended
The Durrës Port Authority has announced the suspension of sailings to Bari for January 12th, due to strong winds in the Adriatic. Meanwhile, the Ancona-Durres lines continue as usual.

Appeal to citizens
Authorities call for increased caution when driving and for the use of chains and winter tires in the affected areas. Meanwhile, civil emergency teams and OSHEE are on the ground to cope with the situation and restore electricity as soon as possible.

The weather is expected to remain unstable in the coming days, so citizens are advised to follow the instructions of the authorities to avoid risks.
