VAT fraud scheme, the Durrës Prosecutor's Office issues arrest

The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the Durrës General Jurisdiction requested the imposition of 'Prison arrest' for four citizens who run businesses in Fushë Krujë after investigations revealed a VAT fraud scheme, causing the state a loss in value 127,551,874 ALL.

The prosecution in cooperation with tax investigation officers in the General Directorate of Taxes discovered the VAT fraud scheme involving at least six entities operating in the construction field.

The investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, verified the sales of the entity "RS", which self-declared a total sales value of 286,301,702 ALL for the period December 2023, and the entity "L", which self-declared a total sales of 162,302,300 ALL during December of the year 2023. In total, these entities have made sales that are estimated at 448,604,002 ALL, values ​​for which the Prosecution suspects are fictitious and were invoiced to the entities that operate in the field of construction "3D C" and IV FP.

The tax administration has verified the declared invoices, total sales, employment history of construction companies and relations with other businesses. From the analysis of the data declared as total sales for each subject, the calculation of the value added tax as well as the Profit Tax for each subject was carried out, and resulted in a total damage caused to the state in the amount of ALL 127,551,874.

After the investigations carried out, the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës has approved the request of the Durres Prosecutor's Office for the appointment of "prison arrest" for four citizens who ran businesses with addresses in Fushë-Krujë, while requesting "arrest in house" and "obligation to appear" for three other citizens.

Also, the investigation groups have verified the equipment and vehicles owned by the construction companies, from which it turned out that the subject "3D C" owned only luxury vehicles, Mercedes Benz AMG 63, Mercedes Benz AMG GT 43, Porsche Cayenne, Land Rover or BMW X5. . None of these vehicles are used for construction activity.
